Ciderdown Album Cover Art
Photo edited and painted over in Photoshop. Local singer-songwriter Ciderdown (Marissa Fritz) sought album artwork that referenced Persephone, focusing specifically on a visual pun of pomegranate juice and blood. She wanted to look ethereal and somewhat scary. I desaturated and adjusted the texture of her skin and eyes to evoke a classical statue, and added fabric over one shoulder to thematically tie in the attire. Although a pomegranate was supposedly used in the original photo-shoot, it didn't appear in the original photo, and the juice appeared decidedly unbloodlike (not surprising). I added back in a pomegranate and painted the juice to more resemble stylized blood. I smoothed and enhanced her at-the-time-signature red hair, and added Persephone's other main symbol (a sheaf of wheat) for background texture.
Drive Poster Remake
In late 2020, I created a fan-remake cover of the poster for Drive (2011) for a contest at The Brattle Theatre in Harvard Square. Taken in a friend's car on my DSLR and edited in Photoshop. I wrote the title text "Drive" in lipstick on the windshield of the car. I was so grateful for the challenge as it provided me the opportunity to play with practical effects—getting it right before post, which is my usual domain.
